vanline.ai

How vanline.ai works

vanline.ai helps people moving between US states check whether a moving company is licensed to do the move, see what a move like theirs usually costs, and ask the licensed companies they pick for quotes. It is an independent site. It is not a moving company, and it is not affiliated with the FMCSA or the US Department of Transportation.

Where the facts come from

Every fact about a company is reproduced from public federal filings published by the US Department of Transportation, as filed. We hold records for 53,780 companies with a household goods filing; 8,336 of them show active carrier authority and 951 active broker authority.

How current it is

We read FMCSA's files every day, and every page says when its facts were read (most recently 7 Oct 2026).

Licensing status needs one more date. A company registered in FMCSA's current system, MOTUS, takes its status from there, current as of our latest read. A company that has not filed in MOTUS yet still shows the status in the legacy file, which FMCSA stopped updating on 14 May 2026, and its page says so. Today 3,239 companies show MOTUS status and 50,541 show the legacy status.

What we never do

  • Rate, rank, score, grade or badge a company, or call one good, bad, trustworthy or a scam.
  • Sell placement. No company can pay to be listed, listed higher, featured or removed.
  • Treat a missing filing differently from a present one. “No cargo insurance on file” is stated in the same way as “on file”.
  • Order a list by anything but location and name. Lists of movers say so.

How cost ranges are made

Federal filings contain no prices. The ranges here are a model: weight and distance, adjusted for season and for access at each end, fitted to moveBuddha's published 2026 cost table and checked against HireAHelper and National Van Lines figures. A range is not a quote; only a mover can quote a move.

Quotes, photos and corrections

When you ask for quotes, your details go only to the companies you pick, and the consent you gave is recorded word for word. Company photos come from their Google Maps listing, credited to whoever took them, and appear only when we are confident the listing is the same company. A company can ask us to hide a home address or a personal phone, or to fix how its name is written, from the “Is this your company?” link on its page; anything in the federal filing itself only FMCSA can change.

For AI tools and developers

The same records are available as data, free and without a key: a guide for AI tools at /llms.txt, JSON for every company at /api/movers/{usdot}, search, a daily change feed, an MCP server, and an OpenAPI description at /openapi.json. Please cite the date shown with any fact.
